As the young Danish Prince Hamlet (Mel Gibson) returns to the royal court in Helsingør for his father’s funeral, he is forced to witness how his uncle Claudius (Alan Bates) seizes the inheritance and marries his mother Gertrude (Glenn Close). When the ghost of Hamlet’s  father tells him that he has been maliciously murdered by his brother Claudius, Hamlet vows vengeance.
